 In the context of the research activities of the Internet Media Group concerning processing and transmission of multimedia signals, we are looking for a master thesis student to expand an Wi-Fi-based low-delay video communication application. The activity includes working with 3D capture device (e.g., an Android smartphone with 3D capabilities - available in the lab) and on a Linux/Windows PC equipped with 3D technology for the receiver part. The activity can start from a software prototype already developed by the research group, and can expand in several directions (transmitter, receiver, porting to other platforms, etc.)

Requirements:
- Good knowledge of programming techniques
- Knowledge of C and Java language
- Knowledge of the basic fundamentals of image and video coding
- [Optional] Some basic experience with OpenGL libraries
- [Optional] Some experience with Android development is preferred
- [Optional] Good knowledge of the GNU/Linux environment is appreciated
- [Optional] Good knowledge of the Windows development environment is appreciated

Videocommunicazione 3D a basso ritardo
Nell’ambito delle attività di ricerca dell’Internet Media Group riguardo l’elaborazione e la trasmissione di informazioni multimediali, si ricerca uno studente laureando interessati a sviluppare un’applicazione di comunicazione video wireless su WiFi a basso ritardo. L’attivita’ prevede di lavorare con un dispositivo di acquisizione 3D (es. smartphone 3D Android - fornito dal gruppo) e su PC in ambiente Windows e/o Linux con sistema 3D integrato per la realizzazione del ricevitore. L’attivita’ puo’ basarsi inizialmente su un software prototipale gia’ sviluppato dal gruppo di ricerca stesso, e puo’ espandersi in molte direzioni diverse (trasmettitore, ricevitore, porting su altre piattaforme, ecc.)
Requisiti :
- Buona conoscenza delle tecniche di programmazione
- Conoscenza del linguaggio C e Java
- Conoscenza dei principi fondamentali di codifica delle immagini / video
- [Opzionale] E’ gradita conoscenza di base delle librerie OpenGL
- [Opzionale] Preferibile pregressa esperienza con ambiente di sviluppo Android
- [Opzionale] E’ gradita una buona conoscenza di GNU/Linux
- [Opzionale] E’ gradita una buona conoscenza dell’ambiente di sviluppo Windows
