Prof. Yanmei Yu from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, will visit our group for 2-3 months (September to November) in the context of the activities of the FP7 S2EuNet project. We are looking forward to welcoming and collaborating with her.
Enrico Masala will present the work “Moving Multimedia Simulations into the Cloud: a Cost-Effective Solution” at the 10th IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications in Leganés, Madrid, which will be held from 10 to 13 July 2012. The paper is available in the publications section of this site.
The thesis section of the website has been updated. Also, a new thesis on 3D multimedia topics has been added.

Simone Basso will present the work “The hitchhiker’s guide to the Network Neutrality Bot test methodology”, coauthored by Simone Basso, Antonio Servetti, Juan Carlos De Martin, at the Italian National Conference on Computers (AICA), that this year will be held at the Politecnico di Torino.
The Internet Media Group will present a demo at the NEM Summit to be held at the Politecnico di Torino on Sep 27-29, 2011. The demonstration shows wireless video communication from a small toy vehicle as well as 3D videos from on-board and outside the vehicle itself.
Dr. Linbo Qing from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, will visit our group for about 6 months (September to February) in the context of the activities of the FP7 S2EuNet project. We are looking forward to welcoming and collaborating with him.
Enrico Masala will give lectures about research topics in multimedia communications in the PhD School “New trends in communication networks”, at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in July 2011, in the context of the S2EuNet project financially supported by the European Union. The activity is part of a visit of six members of the project, coming from Politecnico di Torino (POLITO), Italy, University of Agder (UiA), Norway, Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, to the three Chinese university partners, i.e., Sichuan University (SCU) in Chengdu, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in Beijing. Enrico will give seminars in HUST and BUPT. In addition to the activities in the S2EuNet project, Enrico will also give a seminar titled: “Video Communication Optimization: the Expected Distortion Estimation Problem” on Jul 5, 2011 at the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. All visits are aimed to promote research collaborations between the universities participating in the project.

Prof. Angelo Raffaele Meo will give the keynote speech at Didamatica 2011, the major Italian conference for education in computer science.
Two new conference papers have been accepted, one at the “Semantic Web Conference 2011” and the other at the “16th IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC)”. Congratulations to our PhD students Giuseppe e Simone!
