New classes started

Many advanced classes given by staff in the Internet Media Group have started in this semester (March-June 2012). They are:
Processing and Transmission of Multimedia Signals (in Italian: Elaborazione e Trasmissione di Informazioni Multimediali), given by Dr. Enrico Masala and Prof. Juan Carlos De Martin
Digital Revolution (in Italian: Rivoluzione Digitale), given by Prof. Juan Carlos De Martin
Internet Applications (in Italian: Applicazioni Internet), given by Dr. Antonio Servetti and Dr. Giovanni Malnati

Internet Media Group at AICA 2011

Simone Basso will present the work “The hitchhiker’s guide to the Network Neutrality Bot test methodology”, coauthored by Simone Basso, Antonio Servetti, Juan Carlos De Martin, at the Italian National Conference on Computers (AICA), that this year will be held at the Politecnico di Torino.

Visit of Enrico Masala to China within S2EuNet EU Project

Enrico Masala will give lectures about research topics in multimedia communications in the PhD School “New trends in communication networks”, at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in July 2011, in the context of the S2EuNet project financially supported by the European Union. The activity is part of a visit of six members of the project, coming from Politecnico di Torino (POLITO), Italy, University of Agder (UiA), Norway, Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, to the three Chinese university partners, i.e., Sichuan University (SCU) in Chengdu, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in Beijing. Enrico will give seminars in HUST and BUPT. In addition to the activities in the S2EuNet project, Enrico will also give a seminar titled: “Video Communication Optimization: the Expected Distortion Estimation Problem” on Jul 5, 2011 at the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. All visits are aimed to promote research collaborations between the universities participating in the project.

Two new papers accepted

Two new conference papers have been accepted, one at the “Semantic Web Conference 2011” and the other at the “16th IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC)”. Congratulations to our PhD students Giuseppe e Simone!
